Music Post: Split by Lush

Image
I have pretty strong opinions on Lush. I think both Gala and Spooky have great parts to them, but neither album fully reached it's potential.  I think Split is one of Lush best albums and I wouldn't consider it a full on Shoegaze album either. This was when they started leaning more into britpop and less into Shoegaze. I also consider it their most adult album. The real stars are Miki and Emma's voices. I think the whole band is great, but the draw really is their harmonization and their vocal melodies. It's my favorite album from Lush and I would recommend people to listen to it in its entirety.  I can't really pick a song I enjoy the most since all of the music is great on it.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to the full album but... Here's a playlist (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mmkGe2C76R0ssV09m_a-DQH827P9l1EMo&si=UAqadIp1oTx29Xws)

Music Post: Loveless by My Bloody Valentine

Image
Another album that's considered a classic and for very good reason.  My Bloody Valentine are considered the progenitors of what would become a phenomenon with Shoegaze. It's also one of the most well known Albums of it's genre. Loveless is a classic and for good reason. Before Shoegaze got a bit more whimsical and softer I'd say that bands like My Bloody Valentine weren't afraid to get a bit darker. I wouldn't say every song is good, but I'd say that listening to the whole album is definitely worth it at least once.  My favorites on this album are Only Shallow, When You Sleep, Soon, Sometimes, and To Here Knows When. I would say that everybody should listen to Loveless in its entirety. Make up your own mind about what's considered one of the best albums of the Shoegaze genre.  I have put a link up to the full album.

Music Post: Souvlaki by Slowdive

Since I've been diving headfirst into Shoegaze as a genre, I figured I'd talk a bit about some of the albums I've decided to listen to.  Souvlaki doesn't need an introduction really. It's considered one of Slowdives best albums and for good reason too. It's such a meticulously crafted And beautifully constructed album and Slowdive are pretty much masters at creating a dreamy yet unsettling atmosphere in most of their albums, songs etc. This isn't a review of the album at all, but a recommendation. My favorite tracks on the album are When The Sun Hits, Machine Gun, Souvlaki Space Station, Allison, and Dagger. The whole album is fantastic though and I'd recommend this and Just For A Day over Pygmalion which is good, but not as great of an album.  Aside from that though. If you enjoy albums that create a great atmosphere and feel very dreamy and unsettling then Souvlaki is the album for you.  I also posted a link of the full album as well.
